It All Started in 1904…
Formerly known as the Stewart House, Mr. Stewart designed this house for his family and it was built in 1904 on his share of Chico founders Annie & John Bidwell's apricot ranch. When automobiles came to Chico, he started one of the first gasoline stations. This house has always been known for pioneering innovations and inventions. Mr. Stewart was one of the first to plant rice in Butte County and he also developed the first peach slicing machine.
The house eventually was purchased by the Macarthy family, who named it the Bullard House after their relatives who were also early Chico pioneers. They later turned it into a Bed & Breakfast after it was chosen to be the Butte-Glenn Medical Auxiliary's Decorator's Dream House of 1982.
Local designers were invited into the home to give each room a makeover with a different theme. Throughout they would display the works and products of local Chico artisans.
In 2020, the Diaz family purchased this home, renaming it The Rainmaker House. They have revived many parts of this home’s history, yet with a modern twist. Inside you’ll find custom art gracing the walls, beautifully unique decor in each room, as well as products from the Rainmaker community throughout the home.
Rainmakers is a community of entrepreneurial moms who run businesses from home. Chelsey & Stephen Diaz, founders of The Rainmaker Family, started the Rainmaker community after experiencing their own financial breakthrough.
Inside Rainmakers, they teach families how to model after this same breakthrough, launching their first online brand and leveraging online fulfillment channels to make the process scaleable yet passive. Many moms desire to create a stable income for the family without taking precious time away from their kids, and that’s where Rainmakers comes in.
As a testament to the program, the house is furnished with products from Chelsey & Stephen’s students who have used the “Rainmaker Method” to start their own online brand while creating income for their family.
